Sade fans proved that the band's latest release
'Soldier of Love' was long overdue after moving 502,000 copies and pushing the album to the top of the Billboard 200 chart during its debut week. This marks the first time that the group snagged a No.1 album since their 1986 release '
Promise,' which stayed atop the Billboard charts for two consecutive weeks.
In promotion of the album, the sometimes reclusive lead singer, Sade Adu, hit-up several talk shows including BET's '106 & Park,' 'The View,' and 'Jimmy Kimmel Live.' In an interview with radio disc-jockey Tom Joyner, the British born singer also revealed her somewhat surprising musical taste. "I like songs with sort of more heavy rap," she said. "I like
Raekwon's album ['Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II'], you know from the
Wu-Tang Clan. I listen to just about anything that speaks to me."
