Mary J Blige on HSN, Fragrance x FFAWN Scholarships

Mary J Blige is going on HSN this Saturday (7/31) to launch her new fragrance, My Life. In an effort to send women to college this fall, Mary, FFAWN and HSN have teamed up and $1 from each sale of the fragrance on Saturday will be donated to FFAWN. Hopefully several young women will benefit from this.

Ellen DeGeneres Announces She’s Leaving American Idol

After just one season as a judges’ on the hit FOX reality TV show ‘American Idol,’ Ellen DeGeneres has announced she is leaving the show.

In a statement issued to Access Hollywood Ellen said:

“A couple months ago, I let FOX and the ‘American Idol’ producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me. I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next. It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for,” her statement continued. “I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on ‘Idol’ and I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.”

As a big fan of American Idol this comes as no shock to me. She just didn’t fit in on the judge’s panel. It will be very interesting to see what happens now.

Drew Carey’s Major Weight Loss

Drew Carey hit the town Wednesday looking almost unrecognizable!

He told People Mag that he has lost 80 pounds by sticking to a strict no-carb diet, drinking only water and doing lots of cardio.

“No carbs. I have cheated a couple times, but basically no carbs, not even a cracker. No bread at all. No pizza, nothing. No corn, no beans, no starches of any kind. Egg whites in the morning or like, Greek yogurt, cut some fruit.”

He also reveals he used to have type II diabetes but not anymore:

“I’m not diabetic anymore. No medication needed,” he said. Another benefit: “I like being skinny. I was sick of being fat on the camera. Really, I just got sick of it.”

Wow! Great job Drew!

Essence Magazine’s Editor-In-Chief Responds To White Fashion Editor Controversy

Essence Magazine, an magazine catering to African-American and ethnic women, started a lot of controversy this week when they announced they hired a white fashion editor. Many people were angry because the mainstream fashion industry showcases an uneven amount of black models, and since Essence is for African-Americans, one should have been chosen. Essence's new fashion editor, Ellianna Placas, has an impressive background. She's the former fashion editor for O: Home and US Weekly.

Here's what the magazine's Editor-in-Chief, Angela Burt-Murray, had to say:

"I understand that this issue has struck an emotional chord with our audience,however I selected Ellianna, who has been contributing to the magazine on a freelance basis for the last six months, because of her creativity, vision, the positive reader response to her work and her enthusiasm and respect for the audience and our brand. We remain committed to celebrating the unique beauty and style of African-American women in Essence magazine and online at Essence.com."

Burt-Murray also expressed her feelings in her op-ed piece on the website The Grio. She thinks it's a shame the black community gets outraged when she hires a white editor, but doesn't express the same emotion about issues that plague African-Americans. She commented:

"When we run pieces on how unemployment is devastating black men? Nada.When we run story after story on how HIV is the leading cause of death for black women age 18-34? Zilch. The things that really are the end of our world apparently aren't."

Former Essence fashion editor, Michaela Angela Davis, feels that the magazine is going against its mission, which is to 'inspire black women to lead bold, fulfilling lives.' She wrote on her Facebook:

It's with a heavy heart I've learned Essence Magazine has engaged a white Fashion Director. I love Essence and I love fashion. I hate this news and this feeling. It hurts, literally. The fashion industry has historically been so hostile to black people -- especially women. The 1 seat reserved for black women once held by Susan Taylor, Ionia Dunn-Lee, Harriette Cole(+ me) is now-I can't. It's a dark day for me."

Michael Cera, Jason Schwartzman, and Chris Evans, stars of ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’, hang out (no pun intended) nude from the waist down while checking out the ladies in a set of photos from GQ titled ‘Pantless Saturdays’.

The idea: Monday through Friday belongs to our bosses, Sunday to our Lord. But Saturday, if only for a precious few hours, it’s all about the boys—about the sweet liberation that comes with standing tall and unfettered, proudly proclaiming, “This, madam, is my junk. Now, kindly step aside and allow me into the museum.”

Ever wonder what would happen if two of this summers hit movies, ‘Inception’ and ‘Toy Story 3′ were combined into one? No? Me either, but I’m glad that ScreenRant joined the two films together to give us a look because it’s pretty hilartious!

‘Toy Story 3: Inception’ imagines the usually flamboyant Ken doll as the brooding extractor (played by Leonardo DiCaprio in ‘Inception’) and his girl Barbie as dream newbie Ellen Page.

Graphic Scandalous Photos Of Angelina Jolie In Star Magazine

Star Magazine has obtained some graphic/scandalous photos of Angelina Jolie that they claim could end her relationship with Brad Pitt.

In the Aug. 9 issue of the mag, which is on sale now, they have eight photos inside which were taken by a friend that she often did drugs with.

Star says:

In one set, the now-mother of six has black tape over her nipples and a dog leash around her neck. Others show her during a 14-hour heroin-smoking bender.

“The photographs are a startling reminder to Angelina of a period in her life I’m sure she wants to forget, a shady piece of her history that she’s kept hidden away, even from Brad,” celebrity biographer Andrew Morton, author of Angelina: An Unauthorized Biography, tells Star in our cover story.

It’s not all that shocking to me. We all know she had a crazy drug past. I think I’ll definitely check out the pics while waiting in line a the grocery store though

Miranda Kerr Reportedly Pregnant

Us Weekly is reporting that newlyweds Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom are pregnant and expecting their first child together.

The two secretly married recently which sparked pregnancy rumors. The rumors haven’t been officially denied or confirmed, but a source close to the Victoria’s Secret model tells the mag that she is indeed expecting and thrilled:

“She’s definitely pregnant… Miranda’s thrilled. She’s telling all her friends, mostly other models, about it. She poses in lingerie. It will be obvious soon enough.”

Melissa Rycroft Is Pregnant

Melissa Rycroft, 27, and her hubby, insurance agent Tye Strickland, are pregnant expecting their first child together in February.

Rycroft tells UsWeekly:

“It was a shock. We weren’t even trying. It’s the most wonderful surprise in the world. It’s such a blessing. He wanted the kids right away, and I was laughing at him going, ‘No, not ready!’”
